Shahrukh Khan to go hairy for Farah Khan’s Happy New Year

The superstar will be seen sporting long, shoulder-length hair with a generous beard for his choreographer-turned-filmmaker friend’s next film

He took off his shirt and sported a six-pack abs for Farah Khan’s 2007 film Om Shanti Om. Now, Farah is keen to give Shahrukh Khan a new look again for her upcoming movie Happy New Year. “In Happy New Year, you will see a different SRK. He will have long, almost shoulder-length hair and a healthy beard,” said Farah in an interview. In fact, the project was supposed to kick start this year, but now a little birdie tells us that it will not start before April 2013.
We have already seen King Khan sport a beard in Shimit Amin’s Chak De India!, and more recently in Yash Chopra’s Jab Tak Hai Jaan. In Farhan Akhtar’s Don 2 also, Shahrukh had sported a beard with long hair, but those tangled tresses were mere extensions. And Farah has to wait a little longer this time for SRK to grow his hair. “Since he has a clean shaven look in Chennai Express, we have to wait until he wraps up his shoot and grows his hair for my film,” added Farah.
Honestly speaking, we like Shahrukh with his hair short and a generous stubble; long hair with a healthy beard doesn’t sound like an exciting combo. Tell us what do you think, Shahrukh fans?

Katrina or Sonakshi for Farah and Shah Rukh's 'Happy New Year'

The race is on. Farah Khan has narrowed down two leading ladies for her final choice to play Shah Rukh Khan’s leading lady in her upcoming movie, “Happy New Year.”
“The toss up is now between Katrina Kaif and Sonakshi Sinha,” reports Bollywood Hungama on Thursday, August 9, 2012.
Katrina Kaif will be seen with King Khan in Yash Chopra’s untitled film. According to reports, the actor is pleased with the rapport he shares with Katrina.
SRK talks extensively about Katrina in anexclusive interview with IBN and appreciates her different approach to scenes and mentions her gentle and calm persona and her impeccable professionalism.
When it comes to Sonakshi, the two haven’t worked together yet, but, Shah Rukh isn’t opposed to her. With two stupendous hits “Dabangg’ and “Rowdy Rathore” under her belt, Sonakshi is already one of the most sought-after stars of B-Town today.
"Other girls like Anushka Sharma or Parineeti Chopra were never under consideration. In fact Shah Rukh as well as Farah are surprised when these rumours originated.
Yes, Anushka and he have formed a good time after working in two films and Parineeti Chopra is talented too. However they were not really fitting the bill", reports an inside source of Bollywood Hungama.
Audiences will have to wait for the final confirmation from the makers to see who makes it with the SRK in “Happy New Year.”
If things don’t work with Katrina or Sonakshi, Farah Khan will be happy to launch a newcomer. After all, she did it with Deepika Padukone and Shah Rukh in “Om Shanti Om”.

Farah has no time for films

With three TV shows on her platter, it seems Farah Khan could have problems starting her film with Shah Rukh Khan'

It looks like Farah Khan’s plate is quite full these days. Farah recently started shooting for her dance reality show and soon she will also have to be present to shoot gala rounds of the fourth season of a talent show on TV. But with so many small screen commitments, sources indicate she may not have time to start working on her upcoming film with Shah Rukh Khan.
A source from the talent reality show says, “Farah is part of the next season and she will be co-judging the show with Anu Mallik. We are likely to begin work on it once we get a proper time slot from the channel.” The choreographer-turned-director is also the fourth judge on another talent show along with Karan Johar, Malaika Arora Khan and Kirron Kher.
In the past, Farah has declared that she would be starting her film Happy New Year after she finishes her TV commitments. Another source adds, “Now the real question is after doing three shows back to back, will she get time to work on her film?” We SMSed Farah Khan for her response but she chose not to reply.

After being in limbo for years, the much-anticipated movie will be released in 2012.

Looks like 2012 is going to be a brilliant year for the very talented, Farah Khan, who has directed box office hits like ‘Main Hoon Na’ and ‘Om Shanti Om’. ‘Happy New Year’ is a movie that Farah has wanted to direct since 2009 and it is finally going to be produced next year!

When approached by the media, Farah stated, "Yes, I am making the same ‘Happy New Year’ that I wanted to. The idea of the project remains the same. However, it is only now that the script is ready. I am very happy with the outcome. “

Although everything seems to be falling into place for Farah, the title, ‘Happy New Year’ lies with SRK’s Red Chillies Entertainment. When the movie was conceptualised, Farah did not have a production company and had requested SRK to produce the film. Since then, she started her own production company, Three’s Company and is very hopeful she can get the title back from SRK and produce it herself.

Director, Mayur Puri is going to write the dialogues for ‘Happy New Year’ but the leading cast is yet to be decided. Looks like 2012 is going to be a great year for the Farah Khan and we wish her all the best!

Will Shahrukh Khan and Jackie Shroff come together in Farah Khan’s Happy New Year?

It was King Khan meets King Uncle on the set of Rohit Shetty’sChennai Express at Mehboob studios and some hush-hush discussion happened. Hmm…was it about the two doing Farah Khan’s Happy New YearApna bhidu gave us a hint.

The shoot of Rohit Shetty’s Chennai Express starring Shahrukh Khan and Deepika Padukone was in full swing at Mehboob studios by the end of last month and we hear that Rohit wants to complete the film as quickly as possible. It was on a very busy day when apna Jaggu dada landed at the studio, greeted SRK and hurried into the superstar’s van with him.
They worked together for the first time in Rakesh Roshan’s King Uncle almost two decades ago, andJackie Shroff and Shahrukh Khan were also seen in Subhash Ghai’s Trimurti, and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Devdas. When we asked Jackie whether his meeting with SRK had anything to do with Farah Khan’s Happy New Year, he didn’t disagree, but gave us some exclusive information. “Yes, Farah has spoken to me about some film. I’m in Chandigarh right now. We’ll sit for the story narration once I’m back in town.” The generous actor who took some time off from his hectic shooting schedule to chat also said, “I’ll hear the script and take a call. I don’t know what is the genre and anything about the film, but I genuinely hope the script will be interesting enough, considering it’s Farah Khan. Farah ko kaun na bolega, bhidu? I’m also looking forward to it because it will give me an opportunity to work with Shahrukh, whom I’ve always considered to be my younger brother. We bond very well.”
We understand that for Jackie it’s too early to comment on the project, but if the sources close to Farah Khan are to be believed, there’s a strong indication that Jackie will star in HNY. Remember, we were the first to reveal Farah’s ambitious film plot – basically about a bunch of male friends forced to participate in a world dance championship. How could we not connect that with Jackie laughing, “Farah wants me to do some naach gaana in her film. I wish her all the best, considering I know how good a dancer I am!”
As of now we know that SRK, John Abraham, Boman Irani and Abhishek Bachchan are supposed to play the four buddies. Will Jackie join the club? Only time will tell, but one thing we know is that Farah’s film will be a laugh riot, intentionally or not, since none of the actors are exactly famous for their dancing skills onscreen. What say, readers?

Farah Khan's 'Happy New Year' is about dance competition

The ace choreographer-filmmaker Farah Khan is impatient these days. Reason: she is to find her cast for her much talked and much delayed project 'Happy New Year'.

While Shah Rukh Khan and Boman Irani have been finalised the hunt is on for the leading lady. Talks are that the story of 'Happy New Year' is about five male friends who end up participating in a dance competition in spite of being no good in dancing. These men with the help of a bar dancer win the world dance championship.

Names of several A-list actresses have been making rounds for the female lead, among which were Sonakshi Sinha and Parineeti Chopra. Besides, speculations were rife that Farah might even rope in a face for the heroine's role.
However, the filmmaker apparently is surprised with all these rumours and in an interview she denied that she has not yet found the right girl for the film.

"There is a special requirement for the role of a bar dancer and for that I need a very good actress who can who can dance very well and look hot at the same time," quoted Farah who also added to say that she won't be casting any newcomer as a fresh girl wouldn't be suitable for the role.

It is said that the leading lady will also get to do some action scenes and so Farah is keen that she finds someone who is graceful and sporty at the same time.

Farah Khan wants a bar dancer for Shahrukh Khan!

The choreographer-turned-filmmaker is looking for a girl with the qualities of a bar dancer to pair her up with Shahrukh Khan

Shahrukh Khan will soon be grooving with a sultry bar dancer in Farah Khan’s upcoming movie Happy New Year. We hear that SRK’s good friend Farah is looking for a fresh face for her next ambitious project. The 47-year-old director doesn’t mince words when it comes to casting a perfect actor. She wants a young girl with qualities of a bar dancer. “And I don’t mean the kind who can perform the usual dance floor movements. I want a heroine who is well versed with film dancing. Like a bar dancer, she needs to groove to all the popular Hindi film songs. She should look comfortable dancing and not cheap or cheesy,” said Farah in an interview to a daily.
We wonder now what exactly Farah wants to do by making SRK dance alongside a modern-day bar-bala? Her wicked intentions will be revealed real soon as Happy New Year is expected to go on the floors in December this year.

Happy New Year: Farah Khan's reunion project with Shah Rukh Khan

Mumbai: As choreographer-turned-director Farah Khan begins work on her dream project 'Happy New Year' she specifies that the leading lady has to be a good actress and an exceptional dancer. Farah's re-union with Shah Rukh Khan has put the long impending project back on track and the director is leaving no
stone unturned to get the star cast right.
'Happy New Year' revolves around a bunch of male friends and how situation forces these friends to participate in a dance competition, but the only problem is that none of them are good dancers.
The female lead will play the role of a bar dancer, who will help these friends to win the world dance championship. "There is a special requirement for the role of a bar dancer and for that I need a very good actress who can who can
dance very well and look hot at the same time," Farah told PTI in an interview.
Rumour mills say that Sonakshi Sinha and Parineeti Chopra are the two names that have popped up for the role but Farah denies it.
"I don't understand how come so many names of the actress are floating around for this film. Even I get shocked sometime that what is happening. But we have approached no body," she said. However, the 47-year-old filmmaker has clarified that she will not go for a newcomer as the heroine.
"I don't think a newcomer will suit this role. Like for 'Om Shanti Om' I was very sure I want a newcomer but not in this case. I don't think a newcomer can do it unless it is a Madhuri Dixit type... like how she was in 'Tezab' someone
has to be of that level... which I don't think is going to happen," she said.
Well, as far as the male star cast of the film goes, Shah Rukh will team up with Jackie Shroff after 'Devdas', besides Boman Irani. "Jackie is not the hero... he is playing the villain. Then we have SRK, Boman. We need three more guys," Farah said. When asked if Abhishek Bachchan has been finalised Farah says, "I am not at the liberty to speak about the star cast. We will announce the star cast as soon as we get everyone together. We need to find a younger boy."
Farah had planned 'Happy New Year' even before her directorial debut 'Main Hoon Naa' and was preparing to film it immediately after 'Om Shanti Om'. The filmmaker is ecstatic about working with Shah Rukh again. "No I don't feel the pressure at all of the film. We are just making a film, we are not at war. I am very happy about the script and confident about it and so is Shah Rukh. We
compliment each other... If we are uneasy about anything we will stop it and make it right," Farah said.
"We both are happy with the script. It will be a multi starrer. The idea of the film is very interesting which I can't share about it right now," she said.
The shooting for 'Happy New Year' will begin from next year.
