'Happy New Year': Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra are back

Emirates 24|7 has reported earlier that Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan was keen to work with actress Priyanka Chopra in his forthcoming film 'Happy New Year'.

And guess what, his wish has been fulfilled as the two will be working together in this Farah Khan directorial.

The actress was slammed left, right and center for her alleged affair with co-actor Shah Rukh Khan, but the actor himself haven't shut the door on her.

For a very long time, director Farah Khan had decided on casting SRK but she couldn't come to a conclusion about the leading lady.

But with a little help from SRK, Farah now has her leading lady. Shah Rukh Khan, strictly from professional point of view, wants to be seen with Priyanka Chopra again.

Few other names surfaced in the media regarding the heroine of 'Happy New Year'. Apparently the likes of Deepika Padukone, Sonakshi Sinha, Katrina Kaif, Kareena Kapoor also Parineeti Chopra were considered. But since Shah Rukh himself was gunning for Priyanka there has to be only one winner.

So a website in India now reports that Priyanka has indeed been confirmed for the film.

The chemistry between Priyanka and Shah Rukh is extremely visible on screen and off, irrespective of their so called friendship.

The two have openly proclaimed their fondness for each other. Priyanka confessed in a chat show hosted by SRK's friend and director Karan Johar how she has a huge crush on SRK.

Well, Priyanka had to face the repercussions of this confession and she was blacklisted by some of the filmy personalities. Reports also surfaced that Priyanka had no job and no one wanted to work with her as she dared to 'like' a married man.

But contrary to all these reports the actress had a good 2012 as far as her movies are concerned; starring opposite Hrithik Roshan her 'Agneepath' had a record breaking collection.

Priyanka has done a commendable job in 'Barfi!' and as the award seasons roll in, looks like the actress will have a lot of trophies to collect.

Her 2013 calendar also looks choco-block and she is currently shooting for 'Zanjeer' and has 'Gunday' to complete. She will also play the protagonist in a biopic of Indian boxer Mary Kom.

The actress also turned singer in 2012 and often travels to Los Angeles for her upcoming album. Her single 'In My City' was received well by music lovers and her fans across the globe.

With all the projects in her kitty Priyanka will now have to make space for 'Happy New Year'.

Farah Khan: SRK to be paired with a 'desi' girl for 'Happy New Year'

"The heroine is the most speculated feature of our film right now and even I don't know who she's going to be. But I am not unduly worried," Farah told The Hindu.

The director is currently promoting her 2007 release Om Shanti Om, which recently premiered in Tokyo and is scheduled to open the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne later this year.

"For Om Shanti Om, we got our villain Arjun [Rampal] days after we started shooting for it. He wasn't sure of pulling off a negative role. But that turned out to be the turning point of his career. For my next film I want someone 'desi' who can be a very tapori Indian girl," she said.

The film sees the two Khans reuniting together after Om Shanti Om and Main Hoon Na.

Actors John Abraham and Prithviraj have been linked to appear in the film alongside Shah Rukh Khan

Dev Patel says no to Farah Khan’s ‘Happy New Year’?

No Bollywood films for Dev Patel! The actor has said no to a big director.

Dev Patel is still remembered for his role in Slumdog Millionaire, after which none of his films could work wonders with the Indian audiences. Now, we hear that the Indian origin actor from Britain is also not interested in working in Bollywood. It’s heard that Dev apparently turned down director Farah Khan’s next.

As a tabloid reports, Freida Pinto’s boyfriend, had almost signed an Indian film on his recent trip to the country. But…

Dev Patel was reportedly offered Farah Khan’s Happy New Year -- a movie with an ensemble star cast that might also include Shahrukh Khan. However, the actor turned the director down, citing the reason that he is interested in doing offbeat movies and doesn’t want to be a part of Bollywood mainstream.

We get it! Like his girlfriend Freida Pinto, Dev Patel, too, is keen to do more Hollywood stuff. But a list of forgetful films can wreck one’s career.

Dev’s last film The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, which released in 2011, was a dud at Indian box office in spite of great reviews.

Prabhu Deva's loss? Farah Khan is the new face of IPL

Farah Khan seems to have a lot going for her. After making her acting debut in Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi (2012), she announced her next film as a director — Happy New Year — that also marks her reunion with friend Shah Rukh Khan

The latest we’ve heard is that she’s got another big
offer — to be the face of the next season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) and promote the game. Reportedly, she beat tough competition from choreographer-director, Prabhu Deva, to bag the deal.
A source reveals, “This will mark Farah’s first association with cricket. She will shoot 30-second advertisements for the IPL, in which she will teach the crowd how to cheer every time someone hits a six or a four. She will choreograph these steps herself and the ads will be aired during each break during the IPL.”
Explaining why Farah was selected over Prabhudheva, the source explains, “They are both excellent dancers, but Farah was chosen because she will have a greater impact on the audience. Once everything is finalised, an official announcement will be made.”
The source also clarifies that her selection has nothing to do with supporting any of the teams competing in the IPL. “She has friends who own teams, but as part of this deal, she will only promote the tournament,” says the insider.
When contacted, Farah only said, “I’m not in a position to comment on this subject.”

Abhishek signs Happy New Year and Umesh Shukla's next

Bollywood New
#
Quietly, Abhishek Bachchan has slithered forward to a place under the sun. Rohit Shetty's Bol Bachchan got the underrated actor a renewed box-office endorsement. After saying no to a slew of almost-accepted offers, Abhishek has finally given his nod to two major projects this year.

The first of these is Farah Khan's Happy New Yearwhich Abhishek starts shooting in the first quarter of the year. Abhishek would be sharing the marquee in Farah's film with Shah Rukh Khan. The two were supposed to come together in Farah Khan's directorial debut Main Hoon Na. Abhishek was supposed to play the role that eventually went to Zayed Khan.

Now, in Happy New Year, SRK and Junior AB are being cast in parallel parts. Farah would be Abhishek's second woman director after Revathi in Phir Milenge, not counting the cameo as himself in Zoya Akhtar'sLuck By Chance and Farah Khan's Om Shanti Om

In the second-half of 2013, Abhishek goes into OMG Oh My God director Umesh Shukla's film. A solo-hero project with a serious social issue underlining the humour, the two have zeroed in on a script that Shukla describes as a "social comedy."

Elaborating on the project, Shukla says, "This time it's not based on a play or any other external source. It is an original script. It's the story of a son and his relationship with his parents. I can't reveal too much at the moment. But like my OMG, it will address an important social issue in an engaging humorous mood."
