Katrina Kaifseems to beShah Rukh Khan'sfavourite co-star these days. The two stars, who never worked together tillYash Choprapulled off a casting coup by signing them up for his upcoming untitled biggie, could be doing Farah Khan's next,Happy New Year, according to the buzz in Bollywood. SRK has been gushing about Katrina's effervescent screen presence and professionalism ever since they started working in Chopra's film, and news doing the rounds suggests he wants her as his heroine in Happy New Year.
Farah's film has been in the news ever sinceShah Rukhconfirmed he would be working in it. The actor and the choreographer-turnedfilmmaker had famously fallen out after the consecutive blockbusters,Main Hoon NaandOm Shanti Om, and Farah went onto make Tees Maar Khan with Akshay Kumar and Katrina, but the film bombed.
"Katrina and Farah have shared a rapport since they worked inTees Maar Khanand Farah is keen to cast her again in Happy New Year. With SRK also impressed with Kat, they could have two releases in quick succession if things fall in place," an industry source said.
Farah's film, however, will probably start only early next year given the tight schedules of the two stars. It is slated for a late-2013 release. Katrina has maintained a distance from SRK over the years thanks mainly to her allegiance with his bête noire Salman Khan. But last year, much to the surprise of the industry, she agreed to star opposite SRK in Chopra's ambitious romantic drama. The yet-untitled film, which marks Chopra's return as director eight years after he made Veer-Zaara in 2004, is going to be this year's mega Diwali release.
Recently, SRK and Katrina finished a month-long shooting for the film in London where they are said to have developed a great bond. SRK, who planted a kiss on Katrina's cheek while performing together at a recent awards night, has been gushing about her at every opportunity.
He reportedly pampered Kat with gifts, including designer jackets, when they were shooting in London. When he learnt that she was looking for a particular gym bag, he gifted it to her. On returning from London, SRK personally escorted Katrina out of the Mumbai airport amid the frenetic paparazzi.
